About your host

I am a native Basque man from San Sebastian. I manage an International Conference on Food Tourism and also i am travel writer. As true foodie I have a passion for finding the best food and drink while supporting locally-owned eateries. So i decided to create a food tour taking travelers around to sample best pintxos (tapas) in San Sebastian. And I want to take you around the Old Town where we live in, to do the same. I can’t wait to show you the better overview of the city’s food scene.

What we’ll do?

Do a night out in San Sebastian like a local, led by us, a local couple passionate about sharing our culinary culture. You will discover a unique sensory and culinary experience when you enter the door of a Basque’s Secret Gastronomic Society in Old Town (members only private club) and watch as a traditional lunch is prepared. We dive straight into the culinary heart of the city for a night of eating and drinking unlike any you’ve ever experienced. From fresh prawns to line-caught baby squid to perfectly charred steak, the pintxo hunt changes nightly but always features a range of traditional spots and chic, avant-garde bars. Come thirsty, too, as we’ll be pairing each pintxo with the perfect pour, from cider to local whites and reds.

We’ll start by enjoying “txakoli”(local white wine) with anchovies at the oldest wine cellar in Old Town where you will know the secret of Txakoli wine, before heading into hidden side-streets towards 4 of the city’s most loved pintxo bars +foodie temples.Together with the owners we’ll teach you how to ‘throw cider’ into your glasses, how to carve Iberian ham on the bone, all the while indulging in some of the best pintxos and Basque finest wines.
